Within YouPlay, there are two main tree for hierarchy that are designed to allow you to organise your content in a way that makes sense to you. The naming for the different levels in the tree are there as a suggestion, but you are free to organise however you wish.
Aside from the highest level of the trees (content provider & publisher), you are able to create as many entries as you wish. Therefore one top level in the tree could have hundreds or even thousands of content creators, websites, and players.
Content Tree
Content Provider
The highest level of the hierarchy tree unless you have an Enterprise or Network account, and you’ll have one of these for each of your workspaces in your plan. This typically represents one customer who is providing content, regardless of how many sub-customers or sites are added.
Provider Channel
A channel could represent any number of structures, for instance, it could be a mirror of an actual linear TV channel. The majority of customers typically represent a site or content source per channel. You can set per channel watermarks on your content here, as well as set up these channels with their own live streaming credentials and settings.
Programs
Programs allow you to further segment your content which could be by keeping all episodic content under the same program, enabling different syndication and sharing settings per program, or to designate free or premium content.
Parts & Live Streams
This is the lowest level of your content tree and each item here is related to actual media (videos or live streams).
Publisher Tree
Publisher
The highest level of the publishing hierarchy tree unless you have an Enterprise or Network account, and you’ll have one of these for each of your workspaces in your plan. This typically represents one customer who is publishing content, regardless of how many sub-customers or sites are added.
Publisher Channel
You can use channels to divide up your publishers and players how you wish, there are a number of options on your channel to specify what options should be enabled such as how to show related videos, advertising tags, and more. Most customers opt to use channels to represent a single site, allowing an easy way to get “site wide” statistics later.
Players
Players reside under channels and allow you to specify how the player should look and act, and what content it should be aware of. You can create as many players as you wish, perhaps for different pages on your site, or to isolate statistics to help with A/B testing between different options.
